How does FreshWomen stack up against other mighty adult visual novels in the space?
Comparisons to titles like Being a DIK are inevitable, and while FreshWomen may not quite reach the same heights in polish and scope, it still holds its own as a compelling, thought-provoking game with copious amounts of smut. If only the girls would shut up and let us enjoy the lewd moments!
The biggest difference between this and BaD lies in the pacing and focus. Where Being a DIK is a sprawling, choice-driven epic, FreshWomen (at least in this first season) is more intimate and relies heavily on the character work. It's also fairly linear.
The chapters can feel a bit short at times, but the trade-off is a tighter, more emotionally resonant narrative.
FreshWomen (Season 1) is a solid entry in the adult visual novel genre that's not afraid to take risks. It deals with some heavy subject matter, including topics like abuse and mental health (so don't expect an undisturbed fap-to-the-finish).
Developer OppaiMan's Patreon page is rocking a steady $40K (!) in monthly subscriptions, so we've got high hopes for Season 2 when it arrives later in 2025.
FreshWomen (Season 1) is an adult visual novel that follows the story of a young man starting his freshman year of college while also trying to uncover the truth about his father's disappearance.
Developed by OppaiMan, this choice-driven narrative experience blends mystery, romance, and a sweaty mix of fully uncensored sexual conquests.
Pretty standard for the genre.
The game's protagonist is a young man who, after suffering an accident that erased some of his memories, moves to a new town to begin his college life.
As he navigates the challenges of being a freshman, he also seeks to unravel the mystery surrounding his father's disappearance, which may be tied to a deeper conspiracy.
Throughout the story, you'll encounter a variety of characters, each with their own personalities and motivations. The choices made during interactions with these characters will shape the protagonist's relationships and ultimately affect the story's outcome (and the sexual payoffs along the way).
FreshWomen is mostly your standard adult visual novel fare, meaning that the bulk of the gameplay consists of reading through dialogue and making choices at key decision points. These choices can lead to different story paths, but the game is pretty linear compared to others in the space.
Impressive.
The game boasts over 7,000 static images and more than 150 animated scenes, bringing the characters and environments to life in stunning detail. While the animations can sometimes feel a bit stiff compared to the gorgeous character models, they still add a dynamic element to the experience.
The game's soundtrack is another highlight, featuring 145 songs that do a decent job of capturing the mood.
From upbeat and playful tracks to more somber and emotional pieces, the music is done well throughout.
FW has numerous lewd scenes with a variety of girls, each with their own unique body types, personalities, and kinks. They're pretty short-lived and burdened by a ton of unnecessary interaction, but you'll probably get your money's worth.
FreshWomen offers around 8-10 hours of gameplay. YMMV.
However, this is just the first season of a planned multi-part series. Future seasons will continue the story and be released as separate DLC, so if you get invested, there should be more to come. At least we'd hope so with the absolute mint the developer is creaming on Patreon!
Season 1 is a solid choice for fans of adult visual novels. It looks beautiful and packs a punch. Doesn't quite reach the heights of other AVN giants, but we look forward to seeing where Season 2 takes us.
